Sencha Saemidori

The new 2023 harvest is available!

This spring sencha, or shincha, is from the Saemidori cultivar, like Gyokuro Saemidori, and comes from the same grower, Mr. Nishi, located in Kirishima on the island of Kyûshû. In the cup, it develops fresh, suave, vegetal and marine notes, with an almost milky undertone typical of this cultivar. Produced from a short steeping process - futsumushi - it is a fine introduction to the world of sencha, and is worth comparing with Sencha Yabukita de Concours to understand the impact of cultivar on tea taste.
