European teas

Jersey

I am pleased to share with you my trip to Jersey for the annual meeting of European tea planters.

The Tea Grown in Europe association currently has member tea growers in the Azores, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Jersey, Portugal, Scotland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the UK. The association aims to support its members in the development of know-how, to use the best practices, respectful of the environment. To obtain national or European recognition labels as well as to protect the botanical varieties vital to tea cultivation collected by the members.

This year the meeting was held in Jersey. I had the pleasure of being hosted by Katherine, Terry, Michelle and Cardin to visit the tea gardens. I also had the honor of organizing a European and even world first: a tea tasting of about 20 teas from European producers. An excellent tasting experience. We tested white, green and black teas and even superb wulongs elaborated by Jakez Hubert with the leaves of Filleule des Fées worthy of great Taiwanese vintages, all 100% produced and transformed in Europe coming from France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Azores, Jersey.

See you next year for a new destination!
