This green tea with large leaves, called Shan, from the same cooperative as the Shan Green Tea from Lao Cai, has been handcrafted in the purest Vietnamese tradition with freshly harvested lotus stamens that have been removed to avoid bitterness. Like jasmine tea such as Torsades de Jasmin or Pépites de Jasmin, the lotus flowers are harvested early in the morning, the stamens are removed manually and then put in contact with the tea. Depending on the desired strength, we repeat this enfleurage with new stamens 6 to 7 times in a row over 2 days, quite an art! Torsades de Lotus, naturally scented, develops the woody vegetal flavors with a slight astringency of Shan tea, supported by the spicy facet of the lotus.
