Rooibos means reddish bush in Afrikaner, because its stems have reddish highlights. According to the same process as for teas, green rooibos is not oxidized, i.e. heated after harvesting to keep its green color. It is a full-bodied drink, slightly acidic, but without theine, which will delight lovers of green teas.
Rooibos, from its Latin name Aspalathus linearis, comes from a bush endemic to the sandy plateau of the Cederberg Mountains north of Cape Town in South Africa.
