Pu er cru Sheng de Jingmai vieux arbres

Dark tea, China

This raw pu er or sheng cha tea comes from the southern part of Pu er County on the border of Xishuangbanna, the southernmost pu er region of Yunnan Province. It comes from old forest tea trees in an ancient garden run by a young couple, Yubai and William, in the heart of the Jingmai Mountains, or Jingmaishan, one of the famous pu er tea regions. Their artisanal knowledge, their sustainable management in the spirit of natural wines, the complementarity also in their couple really seduced me.

Its leaves are twisted with dense green and amber reflections. Tasting it is like walking in this forest of tea trees, with a backbone, its structure, with structured tannins slightly astringent supporting an aromatic intensity woody and honeyed complex with a beautiful endurance to the fresh and sweet finish.

Like the old vines, the old tea bushes bring an aromatic density. It is interesting to taste in parallel with its young "brother", the Pu er cru Sheng de Jingmai jeunes arbres, same terroir, same producers, whose leaves come from tea bushes less than 70 years old. Both illustrate well the notion of young and old tea trees in tea as in wine.

A tea for aging par excellence that will only improve with the passing years!
