Boîte Natsume

The natsume is the box used to present matcha during the cha no yu or sadô ceremony in Japan. Its name, which means jujube in Japanese, was inspired by its shape evoking this famous fruit in Asia. Made of wood or bamboo, the natsume is often covered with lacquer, which is the case for the 2 models proposed here.

Available in two patterns: Shippo (traditional pattern made of circles called "seven treasures" evoking the 7 jewels of Buddhism) and Tanpopo (evocation of the dandelion fruit umbel)

I invite you to watch this video to understand the art of Japanese lacquer applied to natsume: urushi
