Ceylon Lumbini Sinharaja Wiry Tips

Black tea, Sri Lanka

Freshly brought back from my last trip to Sri Lanka at the end of March 2023, this Lumbini Tea Valley vintage was harvested last February. It is a very fine picking grade comprising mainly fluffy buds with golden reflections. It is one of the low grown teas (altitude around 600m) characterized by their robust body. It is located in the Matara District. Very rich in golden buds which bring elegance and vivacity, hence the name "Wiry Tips" given by Chaminda, the owner of Lumbini, it reveals woody and stewed facets with a brilliant and coppery liquor worthy of Ceylon grands crus. As for the name Sinharaja, it is a dedication to the forest of the same name adjoining the Lumbini Tea Estate, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is interesting to compare to the Ceylan Lumbini Golden Curls.

It is sold in its original packaging marketed by Lumbini Tea Valley.
